Singer, Jaywon sentenced to community service with N10,000 fine for violating #Covid19 Curfew

The police authorities in Lagos arrested and arraigned singer Iledare Oluwajuwonlo, better known as Jaywon, for violating the state’s curfew, which was occasioned by the coronavirus outbreak.

According to PUNCH, the singer was arrested on Monday by personnel attached to the Dolphin Estate division of the Lagos police command.

It is understood that Jaywon was driving to an undisclosed destination at around 11 pm when policemen monitoring compliance with the curfew intercepted him and took him into custody.

The 33-year-old would later be brought before the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, where he was charged before a mobile court after his statement had been taken.

It was gathered that Jaywon pleaded guilty during the proceeding on Tuesday after which the court ordered him to pay a fine of N10,000 while being sentenced to community service for 30 minutes.

Spokesperson of the Lagos police, Bala Elkana, confirmed that there were multiple arrests in the past days.

He said the entertainer was among the 179 persons arrested for violating the curfew and refusing to use face masks in the state.

Jaywon’s case comes after Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and her husband was arrested and arraigned for flouting the state’s social distancing directive with a house party.

The duo were sentenced to 14 days community service and fined N100, 000.
