Live videos are becoming the in thing, especially since the coronavirus outbreak that has forced people to operate from home.
But if you’re going to do a live interview from your apartment, you just have to let your half-naked partner know not to walk through the kitchen.
A Spanish reporter recently went viral for all the wrong reasons when a half-naked woman accidentally walked into the frame during a live news segment.
The reporter was later identified as political commentator Alfonso Merlos, prompting the Spanish press to nickname the scandal “Merlos Place.” Good one, guys.
According to Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, the mystery woman, a Socialité reporter, Alexia Rivas, happens to be Merlos’ new partner who reportedly caused his separation from wife, Marta López.
The video ignited a media firestorm in the Spanish tabloids, many of which had already been reporting on Merlos and López’s public breakup.
After the video went viral, Lopez, best known as a contestant on Big Brother 2, slammed her ex-husband in the press.
“You have all seen it… what do you want me to tell you? It is quite shameful and quite strong,” she said.
She added that Merlos has put them in “a very unpleasant situation,” but the incident has reminded her “who he is perfectly.”
On Monday, Merlos publicly apologized but declined to identify Rivas as the half-naked woman. But admitted that his “attitude has not been correct” and said that he didn’t mean to hurt his ex-wife.
But apologies aside, Merlos is still unhappy that his private business was made public. “It is quite unpleasant that there are intrusions in my private life and that the professional facet is not separated with another series of questions,” he said.
