UK event moderated by Chimamanda Adichie sells out in minutes


It was announced recently that award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, will be in conversation with former US First Lady, Michelle Obama, at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

The the December 3 event at London’s Southbank Centre is part of promotional activities for the former First Lady’s new book, ‘Becoming’. Tickets to the event sold out within minutes after it went on sale.

Online position in the queue for the coveted event reached up to 60,000th, as people waited for an opportunity to purchase tickets.








Some fans, lucky enough to snag tickets to the events, are reselling more than 570 times the value of the original tickets.

Official prices for the event varied from £30 to £125, but there were tickets on sale on Viagogo for thousands of pounds, with reports some had been offered for more than £70,000.

The scramble for ticket is not surprising as both Ms Adichie and Mrs Obama are feminist icons, whose journeys, works and writings have inspired millions of people across the world.

Millions of people would definitely cherish the opportunity to witness a conversation between both women.
